Russell Young is a British-born, Los Angeles-based artist known for his large-scale silkscreen paintings that merge celebrity iconography, pop culture, and themes of desire, fame, and mortality. Working with imagery drawn from tabloid photography, film stills, and American pop culture, Young applies glitter, diamond dust, and enamel to create works that simultaneously celebrate and critique the seductive allure of celebrity. His practice is often compared to Andy Warhol's exploration of mass media imagery, while maintaining a distinctly darker, more ambivalent edge.
