Osias Beert the Elder was a Flemish painter and art dealer active in Antwerp during the late sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries, renowned for his meticulous still life compositions featuring elaborate arrangements of food, sweets, and fine tableware. He is considered a pioneering figure in the development of the Flemish still life tradition, particularly known for his oyster and confectionery pieces rendered with extraordinary detail and jewel-like color. Beert was a member of the Antwerp Guild of Saint Luke and his works are held in major museum collections across Europe.
