Joseph Paelinck (1781, 1839) was a Belgian Neoclassical painter who studied under Jacques-Louis David in Paris and became one of the leading figures of the Neoclassical movement in the Low Countries. He served as court painter to King William I of the Netherlands and was a founding member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent. His works are characterized by classical compositions, mythological and historical subjects, and refined academic technique.
