Jane Hammond is an American contemporary artist best known for her complex, layered works that combine painting, printmaking, and collage, often incorporating a self-invented visual vocabulary of 276 recurring images. Her practice draws on art history, literature, and popular culture, resulting in densely symbolic and visually rich compositions. She gained significant recognition with her ongoing 'Fallen' project, a memorial to U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq, composed of thousands of hand-painted autumn leaves.
