Giuseppe Recco (1634–1695) was a leading Italian Baroque painter renowned for his exquisite still life compositions, particularly fish, seafood, and kitchen scenes. Born in Naples into a family of painters, he refined his craft under the influence of his uncle Giovanni Battista Recco and became one of the most celebrated still life masters of the Neapolitan school. His works are distinguished by their dramatic chiaroscuro, meticulous detail, and lustrous rendering of textures, fetching significant sums at major auction houses including Christie's and Sotheby's.
