Zeid was a pioneering modernist painter who created large-scale abstract compositions with kaleidoscopic colors and fragmented forms influenced by Islamic art and Byzantine mosaics. She exhibited at the Venice Biennale and major European galleries during her lifetime. Her work is held by Tate Modern, Istanbul Modern, and the British Museum.
