Egbert Lievensz. van der Poel (1621–1664) was a Dutch Golden Age painter born in Delft, renowned for his dramatic nocturnal scenes depicting the aftermath of the catastrophic Delft Thunderclap explosion of 1654, which he witnessed firsthand. He specialized in candlelit interiors, peasant scenes, and moonlit harbor views, often infused with a somber, atmospheric quality.
