David Shepherd CBE FRSA (1931–2017) was a celebrated British wildlife and landscape painter best known for his highly detailed and emotive depictions of African elephants, tigers, and other endangered species. His work commanded strong results at auction, particularly through houses such as Bonhams and Christie's, with major oils regularly fetching five and six-figure sums. A passionate conservationist, he founded the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation in 1984 and used the proceeds from his art sales to fund anti-poaching initiatives worldwide.
