Christian Wilhelm Ernst Dietrich (1712–1774) was a German painter and printmaker who served as court painter to Augustus III of Saxony and later became director of the Dresden Picture Gallery. Renowned for his exceptional ability to imitate the styles of Old Masters such as Rembrandt, Watteau, and Dutch genre painters, he earned the nickname 'Dietricy' and was celebrated across Europe for his technical versatility. His works frequently appear at major auction houses, spanning religious scenes, landscapes, genre subjects, and portraits executed in a range of period styles.
