Patrick Nagel (1945–1984) was an American graphic artist and illustrator best known for his striking, stylized depictions of women characterized by bold lines, flat areas of color, and a minimalist aesthetic. He rose to international fame through his recurring contributions to Playboy magazine and is perhaps most widely recognized for creating the iconic cover artwork for Duran Duran's 1982 album 'Rio.' His work became synonymous with the visual language of 1980s pop culture, blending elements of Art Deco, Japanese woodblock prints, and commercial illustration into a distinctive and instantly recognizable style.
