Bert Stern (1929–2013) was an American photographer best known for his iconic fashion and celebrity photography, most notably his 'Last Sitting' series featuring Marilyn Monroe taken just six weeks before her death in 1962. His work defined mid-century visual culture through his mastery of light, glamour, and intimate portraiture, contributing seminal images to publications such as Vogue and other major magazines. Stern also gained recognition for his 1958 documentary film 'Jazz on a Summer's Day' and his influential advertising work, cementing his legacy as one of the defining image-makers of the 20th century.
