Alexander Evgenievich Yakovlev (1887, 1938) was a prominent Russian painter and graphic artist celebrated for his masterful draughtsmanship and ethnographic travel works. He gained international recognition for his participation in the Citroën-sponsored expeditions across Africa and Asia in the 1920s, producing vivid depictions of diverse cultures and peoples. Yakovlev was a key figure of the Russian émigré artistic community in Paris, where he taught at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and exhibited widely.
