Aimé-Jules Dalou (1838–1902) was a prominent French sculptor celebrated for his naturalistic and socially conscious works depicting laborers, peasants, and allegorical figures. A student of Carpeaux, he gained international recognition during his exile in London following the Paris Commune, where he influenced a generation of British sculptors. He is best known for his monumental 'Triumph of the Republic' in the Place de la Nation, Paris, and his unfinished 'Monument to Labor.'
