Gérard Schneider

Gérard Schneider (1896–1986) was a Swiss-born French painter and a pioneering figure of Lyrical Abstraction and Art Informel in post-war Europe. He developed a dynamic gestural style characterized by bold, expressive brushwork, rich color, and vigorous compositional energy that bridged figuration and pure abstraction. Schneider was a key member of the Parisian avant-garde scene and his works are held in major museum collections worldwide, establishing him as one of the most significant abstract painters of the 20th century.
