Rudolf von Alt (1812, 1905) was an Austrian painter celebrated for his extraordinarily detailed and luminous watercolors depicting landscapes, architectural interiors, and cityscapes across Europe. A prolific artist active for nearly eight decades, he became one of the most revered masters of 19th-century Austrian art and served as the honorary president of the Vienna Secession in his final years.
