Rudolph von Alt

Rudolf von Alt (1812, 1905) was an Austrian painter celebrated for his extraordinarily detailed and luminous watercolors depicting landscapes, architectural interiors, and cityscapes across Europe. A prolific artist active for nearly eight decades, he became one of the most revered masters of 19th-century Austrian art and served as the honorary president of the Vienna Secession in his final years. His meticulous technique and vibrant palette made his works highly sought after at auction, with major examples regularly appearing at Dorotheum and international sale rooms.
