Molinier created transgressive self-portraits and photo-montages exploring transvestism, fetishism, and sexual identity, photographing himself in feminine attire and erotic poses. His surrealist-influenced work challenged gender norms decades before contemporary discourse. He was championed by André Breton and his work has been exhibited at Tate Liverpool and Centre Pompidou.
