Paul Mares was an American early Dixieland jazz cornet and trumpet player best known as the leader of the New Orleans Rhythm Kings, one of the most influential white jazz bands of the early 1920s. Born in New Orleans, he helped bring the sounds of New Orleans jazz to Chicago and a wider national audience. His work with the New Orleans Rhythm Kings left a lasting mark on the development of early jazz.
