Mikhael Subotzky (born 1981, Cape Town) is a South African photographer and video artist known for his unflinching documentary work exploring incarceration, marginalization, and post-apartheid South African society. His practice often blends photojournalism with conceptual and fine art approaches, producing long-term projects that interrogate surveillance, power, and identity. He is perhaps best known for his collaborations with Patrick Waterhouse, particularly the monumental 'Ponte City' project documenting Johannesburg's iconic residential skyscraper.
