Michele Marieschi

Michele Marieschi (1710, 1743) was a Venetian painter and etcher renowned for his vedute (topographical views) of Venice, characterized by dramatic architectural compositions and animated figures. A contemporary and competitor of Canaletto and Guardi, he developed a distinctive style featuring bold contrasts of light and shadow with a theatrical flair. His relatively short career produced a highly sought-after body of work that commands significant prices at major auction houses including Christie's, Sotheby's, and Bonhams.
