Ilmari Tapiovaara (1914, 1999) was a Finnish furniture designer and interior architect widely regarded as one of the most significant figures in Scandinavian modernism. Known for his democratic approach to design, he created functional, affordable, and aesthetically refined furniture that balanced industrial production with humanist values. His iconic Domus chair (1946) and other works became emblematic of Finnish design's international reputation in the postwar era.
