Hector Guimard was a French architect and designer celebrated for his iconic Art Nouveau style, most notably his ornamental glass and iron entrance canopies for the Paris Métro. He achieved early recognition with the Castel Béranger, the first Art Nouveau apartment building in Paris, which won a prestigious city facade competition in 1899. His work remains synonymous with the elegance and organic forms of the Art Nouveau movement in France.
