Halim Al-Karim

Halim Al-Karim is an Iraqi-born contemporary artist known for his evocative photography and mixed-media works that explore themes of memory, identity, conflict, and the human condition. His distinctive photographic style often involves blurring or obscuring figures, creating dreamlike, haunting images that reflect on trauma, displacement, and the fragility of existence. Raised in Iraq and later based in the United States, his work draws deeply from personal experience including his time spent in hiding during the Gulf War, and has been exhibited internationally in major galleries and art fairs.
