Fong Chung-Ray (1933, 2016) was a Taiwanese abstract painter renowned for his synthesis of Chinese ink painting traditions with Western abstract expressionism. A founding member of the influential Fifth Moon Group in Taiwan, he spent decades teaching and creating work that bridged Eastern philosophy and modernist visual language. His paintings are celebrated for their dynamic brushwork, rich layering, and meditative exploration of space and form.
