Bernard Lorjou (1908, 1986) was a French Expressionist painter known for his bold, visceral canvases depicting social criticism, bullfights, and allegorical scenes rendered with explosive color and raw energy. A self-taught artist, he became one of the leading figures of the École de Paris and founded the group 'L'Homme Témoin' in 1948, advocating for a figurative art rooted in human experience. His large-scale works were widely exhibited and collected, earning him recognition at major French salons throughout the mid-twentieth century.
