Bartolomeo Bettera was an Italian Baroque painter born in Bergamo in 1639, renowned for his elaborate still life compositions featuring musical instruments, books, globes, and precious objects arranged in ornate settings. A follower of Evaristo Baschenis, he specialized in the vanitas and pronkstilleven tradition, often depicting lutes, violins, and other instruments alongside drapery and fine decorative objects. His works are highly sought after in the Old Masters market and appear regularly at major auction houses including Christie's, Sotheby's, and Dorotheby's.
