Barent Avercamp was a Dutch painter of the Golden Age, known for his winter landscapes and scenes of frozen waterways. Active in the 17th century, he specialized in depicting everyday life during winter, with figures engaging in ice skating and other seasonal activities. He was the brother of the more famous painter Hendrik Avercamp.
