Bahman Mohasses (1931–2010) was an Iranian painter and sculptor regarded as one of the most enigmatic and significant figures in modern Iranian art. Known for his dark, expressionistic imagery drawing on mythology, existentialism, and the human condition, his work blends Western modernism with deeply personal and often grotesque figuration. He lived much of his life in self-imposed exile in Italy, and his deliberate destruction of many of his own works has added to his legendary and reclusive status.
