Abraham Walkowitz (1878–1965) was a Russian-born American modernist painter and draftsman best known for his thousands of drawings and paintings depicting the dancer Isadora Duncan in motion. He was a pioneering figure in introducing European modernism to American audiences, having studied in Paris where he encountered the works of Rodin and Cézanne. His fluid, expressive style bridged symbolism and abstraction, and he was a key participant in the vibrant New York avant-garde scene of the early 20th century.
