Marisol was a sculptor who created assemblage works combining carved wood, plaster casts, paint, and found objects to create satirical portraits of public figures and social types. Her works like "The Party" and "The Family" blended folk art influences with Pop Art sensibilities to comment on American society. She was featured in major exhibitions at MoMA, the Whitney, and internationally, and her work challenged gender stereotypes in the male-dominated Pop Art movement.
