Hubert Scheibl

Hubert Scheibl is an Austrian painter born in 1952 in Gmunden, Austria, known for his large-scale abstract expressionist canvases that combine gestural brushwork with atmospheric, luminous fields of color. His work is associated with the Neo-Expressionist movement that emerged in Austria and Germany during the 1980s, often evoking tension between chaos and order, light and darkness. Scheibl has exhibited internationally and is considered one of the significant figures of contemporary Austrian painting.
