Sophia Vari (1940, 2023) was a Greek-born sculptor and painter known for her bold, sensuous forms that drew on classical mythology, the human figure, and Mediterranean culture. Her three-dimensional works, often rendered in bronze and ceramic, reflect an exploration of archetypes, femininity, and elemental forces. Married to Colombian artist Fernando Botero, she maintained an independent artistic identity and exhibited widely across Europe, Latin America, and beyond.
