Robert Salmon (c. 1775–c. 1845) was a British-born marine painter who became one of the most prolific and technically accomplished maritime artists of the early 19th century. He worked extensively in England and Scotland before emigrating to Boston in 1828, where his detailed depictions of ships, harbors, and coastal scenes greatly influenced American marine painting. His meticulous rendering of light on water and atmospheric effects made him a pivotal bridge between European and American maritime traditions.
