Piero Pizzi Cannella (born 1955 in Sant'Agata Fossili, Italy) is a Roman-based painter associated with the Anacronismo movement of the 1980s, which revived classical figurative and allegorical painting in reaction to conceptual and minimal art. His work is characterized by richly layered, dreamlike interiors populated with symbolic objects, draperies, and architectural fragments rendered in a painterly style that evokes the Old Masters while maintaining a distinctly contemporary sensibility. He has exhibited widely across Europe and is recognized as one of the significant voices in late twentieth-century Italian painting.
