Marguerite Gérard

Marguerite Gérard (1761–1837) was a French painter known for her intimate domestic scenes and genre paintings depicting bourgeois life, often featuring women and children in elegant interiors. She trained under her brother-in-law Jean-Honoré Fragonard and became one of the most commercially successful female artists of her era. Her meticulous technique and warm, detailed compositions made her work highly sought after during her lifetime and remain prized at auction today.
