Laureano Barrau Buñol (1863, 1957) was a Spanish painter born in Barcelona who became celebrated for his luminous depictions of Ibiza's landscapes, peasant life, and Mediterranean light. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and was influenced by Impressionism, later settling permanently on the island of Ibiza where he became a beloved chronicler of its culture and scenery.
