Hiromu Kira

Hiromu Kira (1898–1991) was a Japanese-American photographer based in Los Angeles who became celebrated for his pioneering work in pictorialist and modernist photography during the 1920s and 1930s. He was renowned for his exquisitely crafted still lifes, nudes, and portraits that blended Eastern aesthetic sensibilities with Western pictorialist techniques, often employing soft focus, dramatic lighting, and carefully composed forms. His work gained wide recognition through publication in photography annuals and exhibitions, establishing him as one of the most distinguished photographers of his era on the West Coast.
