Girolamo Macchietti was an Italian Mannerist painter born in Florence in 1535, a pupil of Michele di Ridolfo del Ghirlandaio and later associated with Giorgio Vasari's workshop. He is best known for his altarpieces and religious compositions, most notably the 'Baths of Pozzuoli' painted for the Studiolo of Francesco I de' Medici in the Palazzo Vecchio. His work is characterized by elegant figural compositions, refined color, and the sophisticated complexity typical of Florentine Late Mannerism.
