François-André Vincent was a prominent French Neoclassical painter born in Paris in 1746, known for his historical paintings, portraits, and mythological scenes. A student of Joseph-Marie Vien and a close rival of Jacques-Louis David, he won the Prix de Rome in 1768 and spent formative years studying in Italy. He became a member of the Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture and left a significant body of work celebrated for its technical refinement and classical grandeur.
