Farid Belkahia was a painter and educator who revolutionized Moroccan modernism by rejecting Western easel painting for works on copper and leather using henna and natural pigments. As director of the Casablanca School of Fine Arts, he advocated for an authentically Moroccan visual language rooted in Berber and Islamic traditions. His works are held in collections including Tate Modern and the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.
