Dindga McCannon is a multidisciplinary African American artist, author, and activist who emerged from the Black Arts Movement in New York City during the late 1960s and 1970s. Her work spans painting, quilting, textiles, and mixed media, often incorporating vibrant color, pattern, and imagery rooted in Black womanhood, cultural identity, and community. A founding member of Where We At: Black Women Artists, she has been a pioneering voice in centering the experiences of Black women in contemporary art.
