David Dawson is a British photographer and painter best known for his intimate documentation of Lucian Freud's studio practice, having served as the legendary painter's assistant and close companion for over two decades. His photographic work capturing Freud at work has been exhibited internationally and offers a rare, personal perspective on one of the twentieth century's greatest figurative painters. Dawson is also a painter in his own right, creating figurative works that reflect the influence of his years spent in Freud's studio.
