Bernardo Cavallino was a Neapolitan Baroque painter celebrated for his intimate, small-scale cabinet pictures featuring graceful figures with delicate, expressive brushwork. He trained in Naples under influences including Massimo Stanzione and was deeply affected by the work of Artemisia Gentileschi and Van Dyck. His refined style and lyrical treatment of religious and mythological subjects made him one of the most distinctive voices of the 17th-century Neapolitan school.
