Markus Brunetti

Markus Brunetti is a German photographer best known for his monumental FACADES series, in which he meticulously documents the exterior facades of European Gothic and Romanesque cathedrals and churches through composite photography. Working with his partner Betty Schöner, Brunetti shoots thousands of individual photographs of each structure over multiple visits and assembles them into extraordinarily detailed, large-format images that reveal architectural details invisible to the naked eye. His work occupies a unique space between photography, architecture, and painting, drawing comparisons to the tradition of detailed architectural rendering.
