Coca-Cola Glass Vase

Ai Weiwei ’s  Coca-Cola Glass Vase (2023) continues the artist’s long-standing engagement with the tension between cultural heritage and global consumerism. Cast in translucent red glass and embossed with the iconic Coca-Cola script, the limited edition sculpture reinterprets the form of an ancient Chinese storage vessel while invoking one of the most recognizable corporate logos in the world. As in Ai’s earlier interventions with Han dynasty urns, the gesture confronts questions of authenticity, value, and the circulation of cultural symbols in a global marketplace. Rendered in luminous red glass, the vase transforms a utilitarian historical form into a highly polished contemporary object, oscillating between reverence and provocation. The Coca-Cola insignia, seamlessly integrated into the surface, underscores Ai Weiwei’s critique of commodification and the branding of identity, positioning the art edition within his broader discourse on tradition, authorship, and mass production. Produced in a limited edition of 300, each example is engraved on the base and accompanied by a hand-signed and numbered certificate of authenticity. The artwork is presented in its original custom wooden box.
