René Buthaud (1886–1986) was a French ceramist and painter celebrated for his distinctive Art Deco pottery, characterized by bold figurative motifs, stylized female nudes, and rich glazes influenced by African and ancient art. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Bordeaux and later in Paris, becoming one of the most prominent ceramic artists of the interwar period. His works regularly appear at major auction houses and are held in significant museum collections worldwide.
