Oscar Soteno is a Mexican folk artist from Metepec, State of Mexico, celebrated for his elaborately crafted ceramic trees of life (árboles de la vida), a traditional art form rooted in pre-Hispanic and colonial Mexican culture. Working within a celebrated family dynasty of artisans that includes his father Tiburcio Soteno and other relatives, Oscar has elevated the form with intricate, multi-figured compositions that blend religious iconography, indigenous mythology, and vibrant polychrome decoration. His works are recognized internationally as exceptional examples of Mexican folk art craftsmanship and have been collected by major institutions and auction houses worldwide.
