Leonetto Cappiello was an Italian-French poster art designer and painter who lived and worked primarily in Paris. Often called 'the father of modern advertising,' he revolutionized poster design by using bold figures against stark black backgrounds, creating striking visual contrasts that broke from the painterly traditions of his predecessors. His innovative approach laid the groundwork for modern graphic advertising as we know it today.
