Larry Burrows (1926–1971) was a British photojournalist renowned for his harrowing and deeply humanistic coverage of the Vietnam War for LIFE magazine. His work, characterized by its unflinching intimacy and moral complexity, brought the brutal realities of combat and civilian suffering into the homes of millions of Americans. Burrows was killed in a helicopter shot down over Laos in 1971, leaving behind a legacy considered among the most important in the history of war photography.
