Knud Baade (1808–1879) was a Norwegian Romantic painter celebrated for his atmospheric moonlit seascapes and dramatic Nordic landscapes. He studied in Copenhagen and later in Munich, where he became a prominent figure in the German Romantic tradition and spent much of his career. His works are characterized by their luminous nocturnal effects, theatrical lighting, and a profound sense of sublime wonder inspired by Scandinavian coastal scenery.
