Jehangir Sabavala

Jehangir Sabavala (1922–2011) was one of India's most celebrated and distinguished modernist painters, known for his luminous, meditative works that blended European Cubist influences with a deeply personal visual language. Educated at the Sir J.J. School of Art in Mumbai and later at prestigious institutions in Paris and London, he developed a signature style characterized by translucent light, geometric forms, and serene landscapes. His works have achieved record-breaking prices at major auction houses including Christie's and Sotheby's, cementing his legacy as a titan of Indian modern art.
